16 cars towed in to Stateline Speedway for Day 1 of the Super Shoe Show. The day started slow for the sprint cars. All of the noise was made by the thunder storms as lighting crashed down on all sides of the speedway. Promoter Larry Bertrand walked into a late pit meeting, and said “Let’s go Racing.” So with a bit of a late start, and a very clean track, 15 cars qualified. The fans were not disappointed as Johnny Giesler broke the track record with a qualifying time of 11.192 and an average speed of 128 mph. Fan favorite Sierra Jackson had a great night with a trophy dash win, 2nd in a heat race, and a 2nd place in the main event. Jackson said, “We’ll keep working on the car and see if we can get that first place trophy on Day 2.” It was all Bryan Warf at the checkered flag. Warf said, “Thanks so much to my crew! They kept working on the car all day, and it got faster every run. Thanks to the fans for supporting us today with the rough weather earlier.”
Seven Figure 8 cars put on the best Figure 8 show of the year thus far. Butch Hegel put on an awesome show, crossing to finish line backwards to win the heat race. Butch got it straightened out in the main and edged out his brother Dean Hegel Sr. for the main event win.
